Course Description:
One of the great problems of our era is that many Muslims have reduced Islam to a mere checklist of Do's and Dont's. As a result, the life of our blessed, beautiful Tradition has evaporated, only to be replaced by a convoluted mix of ossified rules and exhausted aspirations. The deeper problem, however, is that our Tradition, which fulfills and fosters growth, gets subverted into a path that inhibits healthy behavior. The goal of this course is to explore the basics of Islamic Law, to develop an understanding on how it fits within our lives as something beneficial and practical. The starting text will be Dr. Umar Farooq Abd-Allah's, "Living Islam with Purpose."
Parwaz Playhouse has adapted Eugene O'Neill's timeless narrative of two brothers -- one who sets off to see the world and one who stays behind â?? to turbulent and transfomative 1960s Pakistan. Parwaz Playhouse will present â??Beyond the Horizonâ? at the Cino Theater at Theater for the New City from Feb 21 to March 6 - 8:00pm on Thursday-Saturday and 3:00pm on Sunday. Visit our website for more information http://www.parwazplayhouse.com/
We have an orientation on Friday, October 22 after Isha ( 8.00 pm) where you can come and learn more about the class and itâ??s content and ask any questions you may have.
